Most Popular Hispanic Actresses of All Time

Today’s actresses are changing Hollywood and making it into a more diverse and successful business for Hispanic’s whether they are from Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, or even Spain. Hispanic actresses haven’t always been as successful in Hollywood as they are today, but they have been around in film for years.

Some of the most famous Hispanic descent actresses that come to mind are Michelle Rodriguez, American Ferrera, Eva Mendes, or even Jennifer Lopez. Even though these actresses do qualify to be in the best of all time, none of them compare to Rita Moreno.

Rita Moreno is from Puerto Rico and is the first and only Hispanic who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Her most successful film is West Side Story, for which she won best supporting actress at the Academy Awards. At 78 years old, Rita is still strong at acting and will always be in the top Hispanic actresses of all time.

Carmen Maura is a Spain born actress best known for her roles with her Spanish film director Pedro Almodvar. Even though Carmen focuses on foreign films, she is one of the greatest Hispanic actresses of all time with over 70 films and 12 awards & 8 nominations. With 10 of her awards being Best Actress, her best film was Volver, in which she co-starred with Penelope Cruz.

After talking about her in the previous paragraph, I can’t forget how deserving Penelope Cruz is as being one of the greatest Hispanic actresses of all time. Cruz is Spain’s first female Oscar winner, which she won for Goya in 2009 for Best Supporting Actress. Like, Carmen Maura, Penelope Cruz does most of her work with Pedro Almodvar and is in over 40 films worldwide at only 39. Cruz’s most popular Spanish films are Broken Embraces and Volver, while her most popular American performances are Blow, Vanilla Sky and Nine.

The next deserving candidate to be included in the category is Mexico born Salma Hayek. Salma is one of the most prominent Mexican actresses in Hollywood and has been in 35 films. She co-starred with Penelope Cruz in the 2006 film Bandidas, but is probably best known for her 2002 film Frida, which she played the title character. The film earned two Oscars and awarded Salma Hayek a Best Actress nomination.

Even though there are dozens of Hispanic actresses that could be included in the best of all time, I am going to end my list with Maria Montez. Maria was a Dominican-born actress who gained her fame in the 1940’s. She had an appealing screen image and was known as “The Queen of Technicolor”, because of her Latin seductress look. Montez was in 26 films in which the majority was made in North American and Europe. One of her most famous appearances was Arabian Nights, but she died 9 years later after suffering a heart attack and drowning in her bath.

Hispanic actresses are great diversity for all audiences within the entertaining films they appear. Actresses will stun audiences with their appeal and unique performances. Even though some of the most famous Hollywood actresses such as Eva Mendes, Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez, or even America Ferrera didn’t qualify for my list of the best Hispanic actresses of all time, they are great at their own performances and some day may be the best Hispanic actress.

Travis Barker - Blink 182 & +44 Defining the best drummers is typically hard to do since there are thousands of bands in the music industry.  Out of the 20th century there are all kinds of music icons to live up too.  For instance, Metallica's Lars Ulrich and Slayer's Dave Lombardo both have been rocking the stage since 1981. Everybody chooses their favorite drummers and critics will usually include most drummers from the list below in no particular order. Neil Peart (Rush) John Bonham* (Led Zeppelin) Keith Moon* (The Who) Dave Lombardo (Slayer) Danny Carey (Tool) Ringo Starr (The Beatles) Stewart Copeland (The Police) Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy Osbourne) Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) Steve Smith (Journey) Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix) Mike Shrieve (Santana) Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews) ) Roger Taylor (Queen) Matt Cameron (Soundgarden) Phil Collins (Genesis) Vinnie Paul (Pantera) Topper Headon (The Clash) Lars Ulrich (Me...

Best Screamers of the 21st Century

Craig Owens Former Chiodos Music can be classified among so many genres.  Rock has so many categories it can be broken down too.  For instance, punk rock generally consists of  hardcore, emo, screamo, post-punk, experimental rock, metalcore and so many more.  I want to focus on one in particular - Post-Hardcore music has emerged since the 90's. Post-hardcore is typically characterized by its precise rhythms and loud guitar-based instrumentation accompanied by a combination of clean vocals and screams.  Although all these categories mentioned above can be categorized the same, I like the name of post-hardcore better. I don't want to focus on the entire band though.  I have been listening to music for years and have seen hundreds of new bands emerge, break-up, and grow successful.  Each member of a band is important, but I want to focus on screamers.  Bands generally can replace instruments, but changing a screamer changes the entire percept...
